Pedaling Toward a Greener Future: Free Bike Repair Workshop Success

On 14 December 2025, the CCET Centre successfully hosted a free bike repair workshop from 9:15am to 12:15pm. By the end of the event, we had repaired 10 bikes, contributing not only to climate action by promoting sustainable transport but also by keeping broken bikes out of landfills.
We were fortunate to have the professional bike technician, Mr. Dylan Harpour from Mobile Bike Services, assisting us. Two enthusiastic volunteers, Mr. Ding and Jackie, joined him to learn the intricacies of bike repair, while another pair, Estella and Amy, managed registrations and addressed visitors’ needs.

18 people attended the workshop, varying in age and comprising a mix of ethnic backgrounds, including Chinese, Asian, European, and Ukrainian, bringing in a total of 11 bikes for repair. Fortunately, 10 bikes were repaired, leaving many attendees pleased with our service. One bike required a complete set of hand-operated brakes, which the owner will need to source.

Our team worked diligently from start to finish to ensure everyone received the help they needed. All attendees stated they would definitely recommend the activity to others, scoring it a perfect 10 out of 10. Many found the bike repair service particularly valuable, highlighting its relevance to environmental sustainability.

A special thanks goes to the parish priest for their unwavering support and to the Good Shepherd Church for promoting the event through their newsletter, at least five bikes came from the church community. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event a success and stay turned for the next bike repair workshop in 2026!
