Green Ribbon Award 2003 – Raising Awareness of Environmental Issues

On June 5, 2003 (the World Environment Day) 8 winners of this year’s Ministry for Environment’s Green Ribbon Award were announced at the Parliament. The Award recognises outstanding contributions to sustaining, protecting and enhancing New Zealand’s environment.

The Chinese Conservation Education Trust (CCET) won the Award for the Category of Raising Awareness of Environmental Issues, for its efforts of spreading the concept of conservation to the Chinese community in New Zealand through various activities, as well as Chinese radio, newspaper, newsletter and website.

E Awards 2003 – Special Award

On June 5, 2003 (the World Environment Day) 12 winners of this year’s Auckland Regional Council’s Environmental Awards (E Awards) were announced in the Council Chamber. The Awards recognise outstanding contributions to sustaining, protecting and enhancing New Zealand’s environment.

The Chinese Conservation Education Trust (CCET) won the Special Award for its successful model of working with the Department of Conservation to show, rather than tell, the communities new to the concept of conservation why places such as the Hauraki Gulf are special and worth preserving.
